Description

By Claude Larre & Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallee
Trade paperback book
ISBN 9781872468044
87 pages, 5.50 x 8.50″

Using the metaphors of their combined spiritual grounding, the authors expound, explain, and conjecture as they dialogue and answer questions on the issues and images relating to the heart that can be found in Chapter 8 of the Ling Shu. The lines are reproduced in Chinese and Pinyin, and the discussion dissects and interprets their meaning, imparting a philosophy and rationale to the individual ideograms that make up the text. A text and translation of the first section appends the discussion.

1 review for The Heart: Ling Shu Chapter 8

  1. Mark Kuebel

A sophisticated, seminal work on the Heart and its presentation in Chinese medicine from the early, Western Hàn era. Father Larre and Elisabeth Rochat had been so very steeped in Classical Chinese by this time of publication that their understanding of this text becomes almost poetical, and is certainly not functional in a physiological sense.
This text only comments upon the first “Cascade” of the chapter. “Rooted in Spirit” is the companion book where “Cascade 2” addresses the second part of the chapter with great detail.
Given that, it is important to also read and understand Larre and Rochat’s “Heart Master Triple Heater” text to get a full presentation on the Heart as the unifier and emperor of the being.
