This book is a translation of the Shen Ying Jing (The Divinely Responding Classic). The Shen Ying Jing was incorporated by Yang Ji-zhou as the 8th book in his monumental Zhen Jiu Da Cheng (The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion). This Ming dynasty text is considered by many to be the most complete and mature premodern text on acupuncture and moxibustion, and the Shen Ying Jing forms the treatment formulary section of this great book. Arranged by body parts, physiological functions, and symptoms, this book contains hundreds of acupuncture and moxibustion treatments for a host of conditions. In addition to a comprehensive treatment formulary section, there are also sections on ancient moxibustion techniques, supplementing and draining needle manipulation techniques, a list of points forbidden to acupuncture or moxibustion for each of the days of the lunar month, and additional sections on the acupuncture treatment of wind stroke.
